Exactly two years ago, we packed up our studio gear and took a trip to our creative sanctuary in the Oregon Cascades, where we settled down for a week of writing music in the forested, wintry foothills. We had recently encountered Henri Rousseau's painting The Dream at the MoMA, and the feeling of being enthralled by the piece followed us home.

We acquired a wooden jigsaw puzzle representing the painting and moved between the meticulous piece-by-piece study of the lush world of The Dream and the piece-by-piece building of these songs. With snow falling and the new year approaching, our minds wandered to an imaginary jungle island where reality and dreams intertwine in the humid undergrowth.
